Terms and Conditions
The full terms and conditions are available via the hyperlink at the bottom of this page. The main provisions are listed here:
Rates
All hire rates (except motorcycle hire) will include the full hire cost of the motorhome and all fittings and extras supplied with the vehicle.
Vehicle comprehensive insurance is an additional charge and will depend on a number of factors including number of additional drivers, current convictions on driving licenses, drivers recent accident history, whether foreign travel is involved, non-UK driving licence holders, insurance deemed hazardous occupations, and others. A full insurance quote cannot be provided until all drivers particulars are known.
All motorhomes will be supplied fully fuelled with 1 x bottle of gas or a partial bottle where available from the previous hire, and a full tank of diesel fuel. All vehicles should be returned in the same condition (except for partial gas bottles) or charges will apply.
All rates are charged by calendar days e.g. Saturday to Friday is a 7 day hire period and Saturday to Saturday is an 8 day hire period.
Travel Insurance
It is advised that all hirers arrange suitable Travel Insurance for your holiday/rental of motorhome (like any other holiday). This will protect hirers from sudden cancellations due to unforeseen events (such as serious vehicle damage on a previous hire). In addition, such travel insurance policies will provide additional personal protection for travellers such as enhanced personal insurance coverage/ personal belongings insurance that is not covered by standard motorhome hire insurance policies”
Responsibility
The hirer and any named drivers (where applicable),are responsible in full (up to the vehicle excess insurance charge) for the hired vehicle, all damage to it, whether caused by the hirer, the hirers party, any third party, or for any damage whatsoever caused to the vehicle while out on hire to the hirer. This includes all fire damage, vandalism, road traffic accidents, or any incidents whatsoever attributable to any event occurring during the hire period.
The hirer is also responsible for any charges, RTA penalties, fees and associated fees attributable to the hiring of the vehicle.
Motorhome Hire Insurance Excess
The vehicle insurance company used by FOS Motorhome Hire imposes a vehicle excess insurance on motorhomes to the value of £1,000. This can be reduced to £500 by means of collision damage waiver at a cost of £50 per week.
Security Matters
Two forms of identification will be required prior to hire. One of these must be a Photo ID - either passport or photo driving licence. The other can be either utility bill, credit card or bank statement. A land-line phone number must always be included. A credit/debit card or similar must be produced and details provided - these will not be used for any purpose other than security.
The owners reserve the right to cancel any booking if they believe that the identity of the hirer is not fully substantiated or if there are any failings in this area. Sorry but we will not risk a motorhome hire to any person who cannot fully confirm their true identity. Under these circumstances the deposit will be forfeited and if a criminal act is suspected the Police will always be notified.
Security Deposit
A security deposit of £500 must be left with FOS prior to the commencement of any hire to comply with part of the provision of the vehicle insurance excess. This will be returned to the hirer on completion of the hire when there has been no damage caused, otherwise it will be retained to make good any repairs and any surplus will then be repaid.
Mileage Charge
The first 800 miles on any hire booking will be free of charge. Thereafter there will be a charge of 15 pence per mile. This fee is negotiable with the owners prior to the hire specified and agreed.
Start and Finish Dates and Times
The hirer will have the flexibility to choose the start and finish dates for the hire of the motorhome. As we will not be able to make these dates available for hire to other persons, we must charge a full day hire rate on these dates.
- Pick-up time: Between 9am – 5pm
- Drop-off time: Between 9am – 11pm
Weekend Hires
As we are flexible for start and finish dates and hours of hire, weekend hires can be accommodated when we have gaps during the season, and will not be available during the peak season (8 May – 10 September), unless we have availability. Please enquire for availability.
Pets
A maximum of 2 small pets (larger pets require negotiation with owners) are allowed in the Auto Trail Apache and Autoquest 180 at a payment of £30 per pet (’s) per hire - due to extended cleaning costs. Any extra/additional costs associated with pets during the hire period, that require additional cleaning costs then that additional charge will be passed onto the hirer. Any damage attributable to any hire period will always be passed onto the hirer, regardless of pet involvement.
Smoking
Smoking is allowed in the Auto Trail Apache, but no other vehicle.
Additional Costs
All TV’s, DVD’s, entertainment systems, crockery, plates, cutlery, glassware, outdoor tables and chairs, outdoor cooking equipment, towels, dishcloths, pillows and pillow-cases will all be supplied free of charge.

For Airport pick-ups and drop offs, for every hour that the hirer is late for either pick up or drop off (unless notified to us at least 3 hours beforehand) £20 will be charged for every hour waiting. This is to cover additional costs and inconvenience. Most airline delays are known to passengers in advance, and 3 hours notice allows us to postpone airport journeys.

Drivers aged over 21 years and under 25 years will be subject to 50% loading to insurance and are restricted to vehicles under 3500Kg (Autoquest 180 and Roller Team Pegaso Garage Living – not Auto Trail Apache 700).
Additional drivers (to a maximum of three additional drivers) will all be subject to an additional 25% loading excess (normally £5 per day).
Non UK driving licence holders will be subject to an additional 25% insurance loading excess.
All current convictions on all recorded drivers licence will attract additional loading premiums, depending on severity of conviction. More than 2 accidents in the last 3 years will also attract loading excesses.

The following cancellation charges will apply:
- Up to 12 weeks before start date – Loss of booking fee
- Between 12 – 8 weeks – Payment required of 50% of vehicle hire charge.
